 Sunday18th December

Today there's a Candy Cane to colour.

The legend of the Candy Cane

Look at the Candy Cane
what do you see?
Stripes that are red
like the blood shed for me.

White is for my Savior
who's sinless and pure!
"J" is for Jesus my Lord, that's for sure!

Turn it around
and a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
was born for Me!

According to the legend, a candy maker who wanted to invent a sweet, at Christmas time, to remember Jesus.

He incorporate many symbols, for first he used a hard sweet because Christ is the solid rock , the foundation of the Church, he make it white to symbolize the Purity of Jesus.

Then he shaped this hard sweet as a "J" to remember the name of Jesus, that came on the earth as our Savior, or as the staff of a shepherd, because Jesus is our Good Shepherd.

Finally, thinking that candy was too much simple, he added the large red strips to represent the blood of Christ shed for the sin of the world and three thinner strips for the lashes that He received by the Roman soldiers.
