Advent is the period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas. Advent means 'Coming' in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. It begins on the Sunday nearest November 30th, the feast day of St. Andrew the Apostle, this year Advent begins on Sunday November 27th.
